As the Occupy movement swells across our globe, more and more people everywhere are taking matters into their own hands to develop alternate economies that are more just, ethical and socially responsible. The "local movement" has been doing just that by pushing for "going local" to help revenues circulate within the source community and help the development of responsibly produced goods and services.
The degree of "going local" ranges from call-to-actions to buy local when possible to transfer your money to a local credit union and invest locally...all the way to develop your own local currency.
One fledgling group in Southern California, called LocalBlu, is using digital media to provide essential globally-applicable tools in powering all local movements.
Their website currently has a blog with posts ranging from local Southern California events like Tuesday Dinners to LocalBlu's own instructional videos, like this how-to video on growing 40+lbs of potatoes in a very small space. Be sure to check out their blog for other instructional videos and handy tools that can help you Occupy by fueling your own local movement.
In addition to their resourceful blog, LocalBlu is helping the local movement groundswell by developing a smartphone app to address their question:
How many of the goods and services
that we need are available in the
1-mile-radius around our neighborhood?
You can sign up to receive updates about this app development by going here.
Pretty cool, don't you think? Our kudos and a virtual high-five to LocalBlu for their efforts in helping one and all to Occupy, one community at a time!

Things guys are doing some great things
That how to grow 40 lbs of potatoes video was fantastic. Localblu is doing a great job of highlighting how we can do things to locally to build our local economy, or as I like to think of it, as building my own personal economy.
Look forward to their next post.
